Dear John

Act 40:

“It’s never too late… To Write A Letter

It can be to your beloved your child, a relative, a friend. Tell them of your love – your special love for them. It will mean so much. Show you care – in your own handwriting. An autograph of affection. A personal gift in a cyber world. A lasting memento.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “Inspiration is the act of drawing up a chair to the desk.” ~ Anonymous

Does anyone remember that show? Dear John starring Judd Hirsch. It started out w/ his wife leaving him and leaving a “Dear John” letter. Now, I’m pretty sure Mr. Lindsay isn’t talking about writing a “Dear John” letter, but I think that still counts, right?

For this Act, I was already planning to write a letter to a friend. I’m making her a surprise and I won’t be able to give it to her in person, hence the letter. This actually will fulfill the spirit of this Act. However, for all of you readers, here are two letters I’ve been dying to write, but will never send and then one personal one to you.

Dear NFL Owners/Players,

We are in day 101 of the lockout. Please hurry up and make a deal. Stop being so freaking greedy and give us fans the NFL season that we so crave. If you are not able to make a deal, you billion/millionaires will be fine. You know who won’t be? The workers who set/clean up the stadiums before and after the games. The restaurant owners and food vendors around the stadiums. The ticket scalpers/t-shirt vendors outside the stadiums. What about all the other businesses and companies you’ll be affecting because there are so many NFL viewing parties on Sundays? The beer companies. The soda companies. The chips companies. Any company that provides stuff you serve at a party. Bars and restaurants that we watch the NFL games at every week. The companies that advertise during the games. The TV networks that show the games. The Super Bowl is the most watch event of the YEAR! What are we going to do if there’s no Super Bowl? Then there’s all the $$ that is won and lost on the point spreads and over/unders. So all the gaming establishments are affected. Lastly, how about all the sports writers/editors that will be out of work? And the reporters after the game. The newscasters that report sports on the evening news. How about ESPN? What are they gonna report on every sun?

Every NFL fan looks forward to Sundays to watch, root, and urge their team to win. Win or lose it’s an experience we remember and enjoy. It’s an event. It fills our Sundays. It gives us things to talk about Mondays and throughout the week. For those that play fantasy football, it makes us feel like we’re a part of the game. So please please please make a deal and make one quickly. Give me back my Packers. Give me more Clay Matthews sacks and Aaron Rodgers touchdowns. Give us back our teams. Give us back our Sundays. Give us back the game we crave and love. Give us back football.

Dear California Voters and Legislators,

Today, New York passed a bill to allow gay couples to marry. In terms of LGBT communities, although New York City is number one in terms city population, CA has LA, SF, SD, and San Jose which are all in the top 13 cities. CA is number 1 in terms of total number in a State population. Can we really let New York one up us? They already have better pizza, bagels, and public transportation. They have a better night life in NYC than we do here in CA. They have Broadway!!! Are we really gonna give this to them, too? Come on. Let’s make a stand and prove that we are equal if not better than New York. Please don’t let Disneyland, Hollywood, and the weather be the only things we get a check mark over them on. Please let’s take a stand and do what’s right for the LGBT community here in CA. If we get NY and CA on the same page, the rest of the country will slowly follow. Let’s take a stand for equality for ALL people. We had already legalized gay marriage here in CA, but the idiot voters passed Prop 8. Let's appeal the sucker and do the right thing. Give the LGBT community BACK the right to marry.

Dear Readers,

Have I told you lately that I love you? Seriously, I do. I know I wrote a blog about it. I love that you are all on this blogging adventure with me. I love the comments. I love the feedback. I love the support. I love that you’re taking the time to read. I love that I can write down my thoughts and none of you have been negative even if you may disagree. I love that I’m learning that I can be more open and honest and you’ll still love me and support me. It means a lot to me. I know it’s a commitment to read these. They are long and sometimes boring. Thank you thank you thank you. You are all awesome. I know this whole thing it’s not handwritten, but this is…

With love,

Lilfaust
