Do You Hear The Words That Are Coming Out Of My Mouth?

Act 39:

“It’s never too late… To Listen

Take time to pause. Even when you have a point to make. Or when you’re angry or frustrated. Listen to the person talking to you, to the world around you, to your heart, to your loved ones. Listen to their words and their unsaid messages.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “Knowledge is power.” ~ Proverb

When I saw this, I was like. Didn’t I already do this one? I was on the phone w/ my mom at the time. I looked it up and said Ya I did “Listen To You Heart” and she was like. “That’s different. This is listening to a person when they are talking to you.” I said, “Huh?” haha. (true story). Then she preceded to talk about how much my dad didn’t listen. Haha. But you see the thing about my dad was that he couldn’t “hear” you unless he was “looking” at you. (or at least that’s what he always told us). I remember so many times he would say. “Huh? I don’t know what you’re saying. I can’t see you. Come here.” Right now I’m giggling uncontrollably, cause this always cracked me up. However, I swear it’s true. The rest of my family will back me on this!

Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can't complete

Listen to the sound from deep within
It's only beginning to find release

Oh the time has come for my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own, all 'cause you won't listen

Listening is very important. Communication is a two way street. People forget that. There’s Talking and there’s also Listening. Most of us forget the second part, especially if we’re in the middle of a fight or trying to make a point. I’m SOOO guilty of this. I bet you all are, too. I can’t express how much time and anguish I could’ve saved myself and the person I was arguing w/ had I just listened to them. Not just listen as in hearing they are saying words… but LISTEN as in understanding and comprehending the meaning behind their words. During an argument, we tend to tune people out when they’re talking, because we’re formulating our own words or thinking about what they said 5 min ago. When I’m arguing w/ someone I KNOW I tune them out, kinda like it’s white noise like the TV or music playing in the background when I type these blogs. However, every time I notice myself doing this I try to stop and really listen, cause when I do... I start to understand where the person is coming from and most of the time things get solved.

Listening doesn’t only apply to fighting or arguing it applies to all time periods. Listen to the birds. Listen to your heart. Listen to your family/friends. Listen to your body. Listen to the sounds around you. Listen to the music around you. Did you know that the goldfish jingle says this… “It’s a jingle for goldfish. The wholesome snack that smiles back until you bite their heads off.” – it’s true. Go look it up! I was singing this the other day and JTuck and EVis didn’t believe me…

Listen to what to what other people are telling you about themselves, you’ll probably understand them better. Listen to what they are telling you about yourself, you’ll probably learn something. “Listen” to their body language, it can tell you a lot. What they’re not saying and how they are saying something is just as important as what they are saying. Let’s take the time to listen to each other. The world will be a better place. Thanks for taking the time to “listen” to me today for these few minutes. =)

It must be a man thing because my husband is the exact same way...if the tv or music is on I have to first say his name, then he has to look at me and then I can talk to him.
