I’ve been smiling the last couple of days, because I have the best friends and family! In particular, I can think of 2 reasons why I’ve been smiling ear to ear lately. This is the happiest I’ve been in a really long time.

Reason 1: When I set out to Plant a Forest to meet Act #18, I fully expected that I would hit $500. Even though, my goal is $2000, I really only thought I would get $1000. So, why did I set $2000 as my goal? Well you gotta dream big, and that’s what I did. As I write this we are at $950 (almost HALF!!) and not even a week has gone by. THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this cause by donating money. THANK YOU to everyone for being so freaking generous! I am so happy you are all supporting me and this effort. I got so many wonderful notes back and I’ve been smiling all day (and yesterday). You have all renewed my faith in the power of positive thinking, my faith in humanity, and my faith in friendship. I wanna give a shout out to Chi and my cousin Patricia, who changed their profile pics to her hugging a tree and a grass world, respectively, to support me. Thanks to Chi, HGraz, Wanga for reposting my link on FB.

It amazes me how just a simple thing like a smile can brighten someone’s day. Or even just “suggesting it to someone” can make them smile. Two weeks ago, I was having a really shitty day at work. That evening I was on the phone with a woman, whom I’ve never met, but had an instant connection with. To brighten my day, she told me not to answer the phone, because she was gonna call me back with a message. Here was her message:

(singing) “You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are gray. You’ll never know dear how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away. Dun dun dun. Smile! Bye”

Reason 2: Katty Brooks. You are so amazing. You have such a wonderful spirit and a beautiful heart. Please don’t ever change. Just thinking about what you’re doing w/ Face2Face makes me smile everyday! I look forward to seeing your tweets and FB messages about Face2Face and about life in general. I know that my life has gotten better and has changed, because you walked into it. I’m so proud to be a member of the KAT PACK. Now, instead of always having a “case of the Mondays”. Monday is the new Friday for me and is one of my favorite days, because I get to hang out w/ you and the rest of the KAT PACK. Journey on and be safe!

Bonus Reason: The NBA Finals are so awesome this year. Dirk Nowitski has been phenomenal! Series tied 2-2. What a series!!!

So when was the last time you smiled? Or made someone else smile? We should all strive to find something to smile about every day. If you’re having a bad day, make yourself smile. It’ll make you feel better. Mr. Lindsay’s right. Smiles can disarm, so they say to kill them w/ kindness. I say slaugher them with a SMILE. =)

Now if that doesn’t make you smile… I don’t know what will! SMILE!
