Against All Odds

Act 61:

“It’s never too late… To Persevere

Those who accomplish things are not necessarily the most brilliant. Nor the most gifted. They are the ones who never give in. Inspiration is just the start. Perspiration is what brings things to fruition. Whatever the obstacle. Whatever the opposition. However long it takes. See it through.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “Patience and time do more than force and rage.” ~ Jean de la Fontaine

I consulted The ORACLE and Google gave me this as the first definition: “Persevere: Continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no indication of success“

This is so apropos, because right now at work.. I need a little perseverance. Some people at work are just being impossible and we are trying to get a document out and it’s led me to want to drink three days in a row. We worked so hard last week to get this document finished, only to get roadblocks when getting the document released. It is so frustrating. But I know we just have to wait it out and things will get done. The document will get released. The document will be accepted and it will get boarded. I know that I won’t rest until it does (I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s true)

What does it take to persevere? It takes a lot of strength to persevere. Having the ability to get up after things haven’t gone your way or an injustice has been put upon you. That takes huge amounts of strength. It takes a lot of courage to persevere. Having the ability to stand up for what you believe in whatever the roadblock… whatever the opposition. That takes huge amounts of courage. It takes a lot of patience to persevere. Having the ability to wait it out and knowing that no matter what you’ll see it through. Having the foresight to know nothing ever happens on the first try, but believing that that takes huge amounts of patience.

I’d like to think that I have the ability to persevere, but not as much as others. I actually admire the people who have gone through so much and still keep chugging along… survivors. If I had been through what they have, I may not have made it. I try to take my strength, courage, and patience from the people in my life who have persevered, even when the odds were against them. I will not embarrass them by naming them here. You are amazing people… I admire and respect you for getting through it and continuing to do so every day.

I can’t think of any stories in my life where I persevered … but that’s not to say that I never have. I just can’t recall one at the moment. Maybe I’ll upload/publish it twice. To persevere, you need to… Stand on your own two feet…. Fight like hell….never give up…. Wait for the right opportunity. You can do it. Have faith. Believe yourself. Believe in love. Just Believe.
