It’s Like Creating Your Own Four Leaf Clover

Act 65:

“It’s never too late… To Make Your Own Luck

Prepare as thoroughly as you can. Check out all options. Rehearse. Anticipate possibilities. Look from different points of view. Think through to the next step. Focus fully. The hardest workers tend to be the luckiest.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “God helps those who help themselves” ~ Proverb

Make your own luck… what does that mean? I was having a hard time figuring out what to write about. I consulted The ORACLE for the definition of Luck. It is defined by Merriam-Webster as: “a force that brings good fortune or adversity”. I suppose using that definition one can make their own luck by being that “force” that brings good fortune or adversity to their own life. Is this like karma? Can I bring on my own luck by promoting positive energy in my life? Does that really work?

Well, I’m here to tell you that it kinda really does work. As you all know, I’ve been trying to be more positive. I think this has been bringing me luck in my life. Here are three examples of how my positive energy and hard work have brought luck into my life.

  • I started blogging over two months ago. Because of this I’ve been talking and keeping in touch w/ more of my friends and family. My friends and family always bring me good fortune. This blog is making me closer to all of you and now I feel so lucky to have all of you in my lives.
  • I’ve been working my ass off at work. Working hard. Doing the right thing. Last month I got a spot award for going above and beyond during a test event. I remember I was working 65 hour work weeks and was traveling back and forth to C. Springs. Last month I also go a raise. (which I blogged about). Yay! Me. Two weeks ago, I got the People’s Choice Award for the quarter. It’s an award given by our customer, which this one means a lot more. It means that not only does my company appreciate me, so does the customer I work for. I worked hard and the leadership has recognized me for that. I’m so lucky to be able to get that recognition. Not a lot of people get recognized for their hard work
  • I’ve been following Kat on her Face2Face journey and have been introduced to amazing people in the F2F family aka the Kat Pack. Every day one of them makes me smile, whether it’s on twitter, FB or over Skype. This is a group of people that have brought joy and happiness to my life. I am lucky to be a part of this new family.

I’m supposing that different people can bring luck into their lives in other ways. How have you made your own luck? Did you ask out the hottie at the bar and wouldn’t take no for an answer and they you two ended up getting married? I feel like that’s making your own luck. Did you trust your feelings and your heart about someone when every thought in your brain is telling you not to? I feel like that’s making your own luck. I’d love to hear stories from you about how you’ve made your own luck, cause before living in the last six months… I wouldn’t have believed that making your own luck was possible!
