What’s Playing On Your Inner Soundtrack?

This question makes me think of the tag line “What’s In YOUR Wallet?” for Capital One as a side note. I had to look up what company uses that phrase, so the advertising guys did a good job at making me remember the ad, but not the company.

Act 84:

“It’s never too late… To Enjoy The Music

We all have unique soundtracks to our lives. So free your spirit. Surrender to the rhythm. Let your mind chill. Let your heart rise. Music is what you make of it. It calms. Or raises passions. It transports. It recalls memories.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “Music, the greatest good that mortals know. And all of heaven we have below.” ~ Joseph Addison

So there are so many ways I can go with this blog. You KNOW there’s definitely gonna be Trivia tonight. In fact, I’m gonna make it extra long, cause my whole life is music based… if you couldn’t already tell. The fact that I do music trivia at the end of my blog entries is a big indicator.

As for in my inner soundtrack, I definitely have one. I ALWAYS have a song playing in my head. As I’ve said before in the “Be Yourself” blog that my Homegirl calls me “The Jukebox”, because I will be singing a song and will change songs on a dime if a new word or phrase comes up that switches the song in my head. Music is a huge part of my life. As I’ve also said before, I’m really good w/ melodies and remembering songs. I recently figured out that I actually dream w/ music in the background, too. That’s weird right? I remember I had a dream about meeting Kat Brooks (who I met today and is absolutely amazing… we had the best time just hanging out.. pedis and massages and then bowling!! How freaking awesome is that??). Anyway, this dream I had about meeting Kat was set w/ a soundtrack in the background.

I then started paying attention to my inner soundtrack. I have one when I’m walking down the hall, when I’m dreaming, and it’s always singing some musical or country music. There are very few people who love musicals as much as I do. I used to hate country music, but now I’m totally into it. I guess I have one of my exes to thank for that. I prefer the classics and 80s/90s music to today’s stuff. I really love ALL music, except for heavy metal and rap. I think it’s because I need a melody and those two genres of music are not very melodic.

I’m super excited because I just realized I hadn’t saved over all the music my dad transferred from his records (and some of mine). I took today to transfer them from the external HD to my computer. This will make the trivias even better because it will have Oldies music as well!!

I think music is very important. I think we all need to take a little more time to just sit and enjoy music. Go to a concert or just listen to it on the radio or at home. I know I’m gonna be listening to a lot more music now that I have my dad’s record collection on my computer. I now have over 75 GB of music (and I haven’t even saved off all of my CDs yet! So, I’m curious…What kind of music are you into? Tell me some of your favorite artists. Enlighten me. Edumacate me!! I wanna hit 100 GB worth music!! Who’s ready for some trivia?

Musicals – These are my top 5 musicals choices of all time. 50 points

10 Points: Name the Schönberg musical that is set in early 19th Century France who’s title is French and is loosely translated as “The Miserable Ones”.

10 Points: Name the Jonathan Larson rock musical that is set in NYC in the 1990s about a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive.

10 Points: Name the Stephen Schwartz musical about Oz before Dorothy’s visit. (Hint: Original Cast members Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are two of my favorites

10 Points: Name the musical that I can only describe as Sesame Street for Adults (Hint: it teaches us that the Internet is porn and Everyone’s little racist)

10 Points: Name the musical that centers around a Catholic boy band from Ohio. (most people won’t get this, because most people have not seen it, but its’ Freakin’ hilarious

Ok I’m freaking exhausted right now and I don’t have the energy to finish this blog trivia like I want to. I will do this. I promise to come back and fix this… and I’ll send a link in the blog on the day I finish it!! Deal? Sorry. I had a really fun day w/ Kat (and Maria), but it was also kinda tiring.

I actually knew the first 4 which is pretty good for me. I love all the same music as you - country, some pop (until it gets overplayed on the radio), 80s/90s, classic rock and some rock, and not a fan of the metal or rap. I love musicals as well, but I'm not nearly as well versed as you, though I'm very slowly working on it. Too bad you live down there and not up here, or else I could join you when you go see all of those musicals and plays. My favorite is Phantom of the Opera - I think because I grew up listening to it with my parents.
