Day 11: European Vacation 2011

Sent: Sat, Sep 3, 2011 at 2:10 PM

Bonjour,

Day 11:
We are in the country which houses Le Tour Effiel. Paris is the capital city. The land where you can get Royale w/ Cheese from Micky Ds and where real Champagne is made, not the sparkling wine we make in Cali.

5 Points: Name the country we are in.

We are in the southern part of the country. We visited a fishing village. It's name gets confused w/ a French Black Currant Liqueur. Creme de ______.

15 Points: Name the fishing village we visited. Here I'll help a little bit. The town starts w/ a C and ends w/ IS and has a donkey in the middle! :p

Next, we visited the second largest and the oldest city in the country, behind the capital. Artists like Renoir and Cézanne frequented the city and a very popular soup bouillabaisse is a specialty here.

10 Points: Name the city we visited.

The famous story by Alexandre Dumas is supposed have taken place around this area. In the story the main character, Edmond Dantès, is imprisoned in Château d'If (which we drove by). The film version of this story stars Guy Pearce and James Caviezel

10 Points: Name the story.

Lastly we visited a church, where we lit a candle for my dad. The church's name is shared by a famous church in Paris and the school located in South Bend, Indiana. (Tank - that's a shout out to you)

10 Points: Name the church we visited.

Tonight is the last night of the cruise and we return to Barcelona in the morning. It's been a great cruise and we have a couple more days in Spain before we return home. I can't wait! :)
