Day 13: European Vacation 2011

Sent: Mon, Sep 5, 2011 at 1:38 PM

Hola Mi Amigos,

Day 12: We landed in Barcelona and headed off the boat at 7:15am. We got to our hotel at around 8am after waiting to get a taxi, etc. Miraculously, we were able to check in. We then slept until about 2pm. We ate at the Tapas place next door. Then went back up and slept again until about 730pm. We ate food in the executive lounge at the Hilton Barcelona hotel (same place we were last time). We went back to the room and I watched sports on the TV while My bro and my mom played video games on phone/read. I think we all went to bed at 1am. Since we slept all day, there was nothing to report.

I slept more hours yesterday than I was awake. Hehe. My bro thinks he slept more yesterday than the whole time were on the boat (not really, but close) :)

Day 13:

We went to Gaudi's last project. He lived in the basement before he got hit by the tram. He is buried there. It's a really famous cathedral here in Barcelona. The English translation of the building means Holy Family

10 Points: Name the cathedral we visited.

We ate a restaurant called Restaurant Nervion (Barb - Cal Pep is closed on Mondays. Inside there were all these flyers and pics of a spanish dance. Usually a dance by women featuring the flaring and twisting of the hands w/ castanets and foot stomping. Our tour guide in Palma told us how to do the arm movements. Grab an apple, twist it off, and bring it down.

10 Points: Name this type of dance.

Every meal that we've had here in barcelona we've partook in the local specialty drink. It's sparkling white wine (cava) w/ fruit and sugar. You can make this drink w/ white or red wine and any kind of fruit, but it's usually citrus and/or apples.

10 Points: Name this drink

Jason- we had some Chocolate con churros... Mmmm. :)

We are winding down, so we didn't do much. You only get three questions today.

If you are not watching the U.S. Open and u get this right away. Go watch Djokovic vs. Dolgopolov. It's an amazing match. We're watching in our hotel room, but it's on eurosport and in german haha. Hope u had a good Labor Day wknd.

Dunno what we're doing tomorrow (maybe watch tennis), so unsure if I'm gonna send something out.
