Hit Me Baby One More…

Act 101:

“It’s never too late… To Defy Time

They say time is relative. It is. It’s relative to the way you treat it. As an enemy it’s a negative. A deadly countdown. As a friend it’s all positive. A chance for exploration. For growth. For love. For enjoyment. Drink of it greedily.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “He that has time, has life.” ~ Proverb

When I think of “defying” time, I think about growing old and out living all of your friends. I dunno why. I think it’s the word “defy” takes the negative connotation that Mr. Lindsay is referring to here. He’s right, when you think of time in the positive context you think of things like the proverb “Time heals all wounds” It really does. Time helps you get over break ups. It’s helps you move on.

Now, I don’t expect time to heal the hole in my heart after my father’s death, but I do expect that it lessens the pain and it increases my ability to function with that hole in my heart. I will always miss my dad, but after taking this trip with my bro and mom, Time allowed me to realize that life does go on. Time allowed me to get to the point where I don’t cry when think about him all the time (just some of the time). Time allowed me to accept the fact that I (we) have to continue living, because that’s what he would’ve wanted.

Time can be thought of as a negative, like needing more of it. There’s not enough time to meet a deadline. There’s not enough time in the day to finish what you need/want to accomplish. Time management really comes into play. Learning how to manage time so that it is not a negative thing in your life is a really hard thing to do. I’m not really that good at it, but I’ve gotten a lot better over time (haha). Now I’ve come full circle! Hehe

But isn’t that really the case? If given enough time… your feeling about time goes from negative to positive and time goes from being your enemy to being your friend.

So for those of you who have a lot of TIME on your hands, I have two Trivias for you this time… hehe

10 Points: Name the Artist and the Song of the lyrics below

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
and think of you
caught up in circles confusion--
is nothing new
Flashback--warm nights--
almost left behind
suitcases of memories,
time after—

sometimes you picture me--
I'm walking too far ahead
you're calling to me, I can't hear
what you've said--
Then you say--go slow--
I fall behind--
the second hand unwinds

chorus:
if you're lost you can look--and you will find me

10 Points: Name the Artist and the Song of the lyrics below

Another turning point a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go.

So make the best of this test and don't ask why.
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the…

10 Points: Name the Artist and the Song of the lyrics below

I don't know why I did the things I did
I don't know why I said the things I said
Pride's like a knife, it can cut deep inside
Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes
I didn't really mean to hurt you
I didn't wanna see you go
I know I made you cry
But baby

CHORUS
If I could turn

10 Points: Name the Artist and the Song of the lyrics below

Don't put your head on my shoulder
Sink me in a river of tears
This could be the best place yet
But you must overcome your fears

In time we could've been so much more
But time is precious I know
In time we could've been so much more
The time has nothing to show

Because time won't give me time
And time makes lovers feel
Like they've got something real
But you and me we know
We got nothing
but time

10 Points: Name the Artist who sings “For The Longest Time”

If you said goodbye to me tonight
There would still be music left to write
What else could I do, I'm so inspired by you
That hasn't happened for

10 Points: Name the Artist who sings “Back In Time” and Name the Movie this song was in

Tell me, doctor, where are we going this time
Is this the 50's, or 1999
All I wanted to do - was play my guitar and sing

So take me away, I don't mind
But you'd better promise me, I'll be back in time
Gotta get back in time

10 Points: Name the Musical the song “Maybe This Time” with the lyrics below

Maybe this time, I'll be lucky
Maybe this time he'll stay

Maybe this time, For the first time
Love won't hurry away

He will hold me fast
I'll be home at last
Not a loser, huh
anymore
like the last time and the time before

10 Points: Name the Artist that sings “Time” (Hint: The Lead singer is now a country singer named Darius Rucker) – btw – this is my FAVORITE song from this band

Time, why do you punish me?
Like a wave bashing into the shore
You wash away my dreams.

Time, why do you walk away?
Like a friend with somewhere to go
You left me crying

Can you teach me about tomorrow
And all the pain and sorrow
Running free?
Cause tomorrow's just another day
And I don't believe in time

Time, I don't understand
Children killing in the street
Dying for the color of a rag
Time, hey there red and blue
Wash them in the ocean, make them clean,
Maybe their mothers won't cry tonight

Can you teach me about tomorrow
And all the pain and sorrow
Running free?
But tomorrow's just another day
And I don't believe in...

chorus:

Time is wasting
Time is walking
You ain't no friend of mine
I don't know where i'm goin'
I think I'm out of my mind
Thinking about time

And if I die tomorrow, yeah
Just lay me down in sleep

(chorus)

Time, you left me standing there
Like a tree growing all alone
The wind just stripped me bare, stripped me bare
Time, the past has come and gone
The future's far away
Now only lasts for one second, one second
Can you teach me about tomorrow
And all the pain and sorrow
Running free?
'Cause tomorrow's just another day
And I don't believe in time

(chorus)

Time, why you punish me?

I think this is the first time I knew all of your song trivia questions (though I'm not going to take the time to answer them). I love the Back to the Future reference, though!
