Idina Menzel ROCKED The Greek Theater!!

Act 144:

It’s never too late… To Be Enthusiastic

Our attitudes influence others. Especially those who respect us. Lack of enthusiasm can crush their spirit. Maintain your enthusiasm for life. For others’ lives. It will boost your energy levels. And heighten your enjoyment. It will energise your mind and open it.” – Patrick Lindsay

Quote in book: “Every cloud has a silver lining.” ~ John Milton

I went to the Idina Menzel Concert at the Greek Theater tonight. I was super super excited about the concert, so I’m gonna fulfill this Act by showing my Enthusiasm for her and the concert. Once again, the Acts work perfectly to my life.

For those who don’t know who Idina Menzel is…. she is only my idol and my favorite actress/singer. She has one of the best voices and is one of the most talented musical theater actresses of our generation. She was born and raised in Queens and Long Island. When her parents divorced at the age of 15, she earned extra money by being a Wedding Singer (she lied about her age). After she got her first professional job as Maureen in Rent, where she received a Tony nomination. She met her husband Taye Diggs on Rent. They then both starred in The Wild Party. She won a Tony for being the green witch we loved, Elphaba, in Wicked. She now has a recurring role on Glee as Rachel’s birth mother (this is so perfect because she and Lea Michele look so much a like) I could go on and on and on – but if you want more info go check out her wiki.

As for tonight, she had her first concert at the Greek Theater here in LA. It was AMAZING!! She came out barefoot in this stunningly beautiful fuchsia dress. She joked about the weather (because it was actually really really warm.) I was all bundled up thinking it was going to be cold. She said “I thought it was going to be cold tonight and my nipples were gonna show” HAHA.

Idina sang a bunch of songs from the musicals that she’s been in and she sang a song from Glee. She was accompanied by the Pasadena Symphony and they were conducted by Marvin Hamlisch. That’s right THE Marvin Hamlisch. For those who don’t know who he is…. he is a composer. The only one to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony (EGOT), a Pulitzer Prize and a Golden Globe. He is probably best known for A Chorus Line and “They Way We Were”. For more info on him check out his wiki.

The concert as a whole was SOOOO WONDERFUL!!! She sang some songs and gave us little anecdotes about her life and the upcoming song. She talked about singing for Barbra Streisand at the Kennedy Center Honors Awards. She talked about songs she made up for her 2 year old son Walker. She talked about how her and her husband got married, her childhood, her wedding singer jobs, the musicals she was in. She also talked about the one thing that always bugged me during her mother/daughter reunion on Glee. I get that Idina and Lea have powerful voices. I get that it was a Lady Gaga themed episode. However, how does singing “Poker Face” as the culmination of their reunion really fit??? Idina joked about the lyrics not making any sense, which is so funny cause I had that exact same conversation w/ friends when the episode came out… =)

Here was the set list for tonight’s concert.

I LOVE IDINA… She’s awesome. I’m always excited and enthusiastic when there’s anything that has to do with her. She’s one of the reasons I’m SOOO into theater. Some of the shows I’m gonna watch in the next couple of weeks are Come Fly Away and Bring It On The Musical. I can’t wait for those. =) Not to mention that Wicked is coming back to town… (umm of course I already have tix) Other than theater and Idina… most of you know that the other two things that I’m enthusiastic about are Glee and The Green Bay Packers. Glee will return after the World Series is over. I also can’t wait for that. Tomorrow Green Bay tries to keep their winning streak alive and go 7-0. GO PACK GO!!!!
